Teams of 4. (Mixed competition - maximum 2 men on court. There must be at least one woman on court at all times. Males under 15 (School Year 10) or over 60 can play instead of a woman. If a team has less than 4 players, the opposition may elect to drop a player’s serve to balance the game.

A player can only play for one team in any competition. Any player playing for a team in the Cup or Plate in the afternoon must have played for that team in the group stages in the morning (unless substitution for an injured player is allowed by the opposition). Junior teams may play in the Plate in the afternoon.

Pool games will be timed. Total points scored count. The point in play at time is played out. If the score is equal at the end of time, play 1 extra point.

Teams change ends every 10 points.

No time outs allowed, but teams may make unlimited substitutions.

The court will be 16 x 8 m (approx.), but without an attack line or centre line. Players may cross the centre line provided they do not impede the opposition. All players may attack in front court.

Net height 2.43 m approx.

All other rules as in Volleyball England competitions.
Junior Competition Rules

Teams of 4 - all players must be Under 17on the day of the competition. Juniors 17 and over can play in the main competition, it is requested that junior aged National League Players also play in the main competition.

Teams should be a combination of boys and girls and different ages. We are not prescribing combinations but we expect coaches to enter into the spirit of the event. If a team has less than 4 players, the opposition may elect to drop a player’s serve to balance the game.

The net height will be adjusted to junior heights.
General Competition Format

Pool positions are decided by 2 points for win and 0 points for loss. In the case of equal pool points, the team with the higher total scored. If still equal, then the result between two teams

In general, the top 2 teams from each pool will play in the Main competition.

The 3rd, 4th & 5th placed teams play in the Plate competition.

But this may be varied on the day, depending on numbers of teams
NB The tournament organiser reserves the right to vary the rules/competition format due to conditions on the day.
